Future Local

Editor: Sarah Savage

Celebrating and exploring the importance of context in our future environments, Future Local looks at everything from architecture, settlements and urban designs to smaller-scale solutions and artistic ideas with big implications. In Future Local, Australian artists Keg de Souza and Richard Bell bring to light issues of displacement and colonisation; and Hakan Elevli and Mohammed Haddara tell the story of their decade-long journey creating the Australian Islamic Centre with Glenn Murcutt. Taking our inspiration from Jane Jacobs, Future Local embraces cities and the people who live in them, giving voice to the diversity of experiences, languages, philosophies and cultures that a thriving city depends on.
