This Saturday 1 December is an opportunity to explore a rare collection of architectural photographs at the State Library of Victoria. Peter Willie: Out Driving will showcase some of Willie’s 6000 colour photographs of Melbourne’s architectural wonders, taken throughout the 1950s and 1960s.
Willie, an amateur photographer and architectural draftsman, took images that capture a period of experimental design, from the austerity measures of post-World War II to the height of modernism.
The exhibition includes works by groundbreaking architects Robin Boyd, Peter McIntyre, Kevin Borland, and John and Phillis Murphy. A curator’s talk will be happening on 12 Februrary 2019 – it’s free, but bookings are essential.
