Now in its sixth iteration, this year’s Glenn Murcutt-designed MPavilion will light up the Queen Victoria Gardens from November to March. As the year draws to an end, it’s time for our monthly round-up of MPavilion’s mega summer activities! Like December, the January program is jam-packed with thought-provoking talks, workshops and performances – all free! To help you pick and choose from the range of events on offer, here’s our highlights:
Friday 10 January, 6 – 10pm
A reoccurring favourite at MPavilion, the Friday Sunset Series is designed for you and your mates to get your boogie on, with Melbourne’s favourite DJs spinning some sweet sweet tunes. Let your hair down, grab a drink at the Kiosk and enjoy a summers evening under the stars. More info here.
Tuesday 14 January, 8 – 10pm
A cinema with a difference. Powered by bicycles, the Climate Emergency Cinema invites you to experience a series of outdoor films celebrating the urgent grassroots action around climate change. The curated program of short films and award-winning feature documentaries will be introduced by leading thinkers and activists leading the climate emergency campaign here in Melbourne. More info here.
Sunday 19 January, 10 – 11am
Tom + Captain are a dog-walking adventure team that take dogs on adventures to places the owners don’t have time to go. Join them for a dog-filled meander through the city laneways, arcades and streets. Bring your pup or come along without and join the pack. Tours begin at the Kiosk with a coffee in-hand. More info here.
Wednesday 22 January, 6:15 – 7:15pm
3RRR’s Breaking & Entering hosts, Lauren Taylor and Simon Walker, will be recording a podcast each month where they’ll explore this year’s program themes: Australian Design: Identity & Cultural Collaboration; Connection: Instruments of Harmonious Living; Unplugged: Energy Without Electricity; Earth: A Place of Reconciliation, a Reconciliation of Place; and Knowledge: Shared Learning, Shared Power. Join the conversation for a relaxed evening of chat and reflection. More info here.
