Opening to the public on 9 October 2018, MPavilion launches with an incredible line-up of cultural activities – the four-month program features over 400 free events with over 500 collaborators. The fifth iteration is designed by renowned Barcelona-based architect Carme Pinós of Estudio Carme Pinós and will spend another spring and summer in Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Gardens. Inspired by the ethos of Pinós, women in leadership features as a theme throughout the program.
‘The land on which we stand’ kicks off the expansive and participatory program. The first of many MTalks – the panel discussion features Carme Pinós and a host of other celebrated speakers. It aims to genuinely discuss Country: the levels of meaning, understanding, occupation and use of this land. Other highlights in the first week include the re-imagining of smart infrastructure for urban cities, secret rehearsals with Bakehouse Studios, students inhabiting the persona of an ‘interiorizt’ and a Friday night soiree with yours truly. We’re also hosting a symposium about Living Closer Together, featuring a day of panel sessions exploring the intersection between the way we experience, design and plan for a lively and equitable city.
To stay up to date with the dynamic line-up of workshops, tours, talks, performances and exhibitions head on over to the MPavilion website. We’ve only discussed the first week, there is much more to explore.
