The Bauhaus was founded in 1919 on a radical premise – to reinvent society and make us think about design as a social project. This year Bauhaus Imaginista: Moving Away will tour to eight countries reflecting on the influence of the Bauhaus, but more importantly, looking at how that ambitious thinking can be adapted for the current world and its changing geopolitics.
The interdisciplinary exhibition will stop first at China Design Museum in Hongzhou, China until 8 July. The exhibition will also examine how that philosophy spread across the world: for example, architect Richard Paulick and his student Wang Dahong brought the teachings to China, resulting in Bauhaus ideas playing a large role in the urban development of metropolitan Shanghai.
Updates about the exhibitions will also be available online throughout the year.
