Nikhila Madabhushi

Nikhila Madabhushi is an architect, researcher and educator developing projects within our built and socio-spatial environments. Through her research-based architectural practice NMA, she creates culturally- and environmentally-responsive residential and public works that shape places for people. Her research is founded on spatial justice in our built environment, with a special focus on decolonial and participatory methods. In 2020-21, she was the Monash Innovation Fellow within the Department of Architecture. Her research and teaching through this role, focused on rethinking community-led recovery of built environments in the regional Victorian context, following the 2019-20 bushfires in East Gippsland / Gunaikurnai-Bidawel Country. Nikhila was subsequently awarded the Cox PhD Scholarship in Architecture where she will continue to explore these themes.
