Ataria Sharman is an editor and writer with a Master of Arts in Māori Studies on mana wahine and the atua wāhine. Ataria has written for various publications, including Broadsheet, Re: News, The Spinoff and Stuff NZ and was previously editor of the arts and culture journal The Pantograph Punch. Her children’s fiction novel Hine and the Tohunga Portal was a finalist in the 2022 New Zealand Book Awards for Youth and Children.
