Gentle Collisions mix by DJ Emoceans

DJ Emoceans (a.k.a. Melbourne artist Sheena Colquhoun) is always up for a conversation about why pop music is important. In this special mix for Assemble Papers, she deviates from the party tunes you can usually see her playing around town with this mix inspired by women who twist language into poetry into music. So grab a glass of wine and hop in. The water’s warm. Let’s get Emoceanal.echo adrotate_group(2);

DJ Emoceans (a.k.a. Melbourne artist Sheena Colquhoun) is a lover of pop music and dancing, and is always up for a conversation about why pop music is important.

In this special mix for Assemble Papers, DJ Emoceans gets, well, emoceanal. Deviating from the party tunes you can usually see her playing in and around Melbourne, this mix – entitled ‘Gentle Collisions’ – is a mix of sad songs that are close to Sheena’s heart.

“I was inspired by women who twist language into lyrics into poetry into music,” says Sheena. “All of these songs and poems leapt out at me because of the potency of their meaning.”

The ideal location for listening to this mix? “In the bath with a cheap glass of wine,” says Sheena. So don’t be shy, hop in. The water’s warm. Let’s get emoceanal.

DJ Emoceans is playing the Tote on Saturday 11 June alongside The Pink Tiles, Palm Springs, Swim Team, Chelsea Bleach, Shiny Coin, Hi-Tec Emotions, Pappy and Thug Mills. For more updates on what DJ Emoceans is up to, follow her on Facebook: facebook.com/djemoceans
