On Friday 19 August, Melbourne DJ and photographer Avery will be warming up the dancefloor at Cool Room – a monthly party that aims to provide a safer space to enjoy house and techno tunes, with a focus on inclusion, safety and friendliness towards queer and trans communities. Ahead of the event, Avery has put together this exclusive mix designed to get you up and ready to hit the club.

Melbourne DJ (and photographer) Avery has been lighting up the town recently with her house-focused sets at the likes of Book Club, Le Fag and Luxury. On Friday 19 August, she’ll be warming up the dance-floor at Cool Room alongside headliner Brooke Powers as well as Ben Houghton and Cool Room founder Sebastian Sibelle.

Since early 2015, Cool Room has presented a series of monthly parties designed to provide a safe space to enjoy house and techno music. The night has made headlines for its focus on inclusion, safety and friendliness towards queer and transgender communities, with Safety and Inclusivity Coordinators on-hand at each event and even a hotline that partygoers can text with concerns, complaints and feedback before, after but most importantly during the event. The Cool Room format showcases a different DJ each month, with the headline set being live-streamed via TRNSMT.tv.
