Summer; Sexier than Spring by DJ Dreaming

Shown here literally living summer, DJ Dreaming (aka Hazel Brown of Schoolhouse Studios and Two Bright Lakes) has immersed herself in heat of the sexier season to bring us this (destined to be on repeat) mix. Roll call the Aaliyahs and the Mariahs and the Oscar Key Sungs of the world. Hazel suggests it will sexify any of your day-to-day activities, and is especially sultry dishes-doing listening.

Hazel Brown is the co-director of Collingwood artist labyrinth Schoolhouse Studios and the co-founder of independent music label Two Bright Lakes. Lately she’s been “really getting into drinking more water and learning some new skills like yoga, Auslan, gardening and surfing.”

No stranger to the dance floor (in fact she pretty much owns it every single time), Hazel says, “there’s nothing I like more than playing R’n’B, Disco and Hip Hop super loud in my house or car, or in a friend’s house or car (I love car dancing).” This mix was prepared under her alias DJ Dreaming, a name she conjured up a few years ago. “When my sister and I were in America in 2010 we pretended we were twins, said our names were Dreaming and Delicious, and told people it was our 22nd birthday. IRL we were 21 and 24. We sometimes ‘DJ’ as Dreaming and Delicious. (Like us on Facebook here).”

On how this mix came about, Hazel says, “A few months ago I made a playlist on my phone called ‘Spring is Sexy’ but I didn’t finish it, and then summer came and it dawned on me: ‘Summer; Sexier than Spring’.” She advises, “When you listen to this mix, you should do something at home alone, like have a long shower or do the dishes really slowly. I dunno lol. This playlist should, if it’s made right, transform anything you’re doing into a sexy time.”
